Moist Heat Packs

Our Unique Moist Heat Packs

Our moist heat packs deliver deep penetrating moist heat therapy to help relax sore muscles prior to professional treatment. Patients and clients alike enjoy the benefits of reduced pain, reduced stiffness in painful joint, then increased range of motion. Not only can our moist heat packs be used to increase comfort, for more like after a difficult fitness training or rehabilitation session, scientific researches have found using these can generate multiple therapeutic benefits that can aid recovery for diverse injuries and chronic conditions. The packs contain organic filling absorb moisture and retain heat more effectively than conventional heat packs. They provide up to 30 minutes of deep-felt moist heat to soothe discomfort, help relieve arthritic pain, stiff neck, headaches, backache, muscle soreness, sprains and bruises. The treatment will progress much faster with this great way to deliver moist heat to the body than conventional packs.

Formulated BENTONITE granules as the Filler, a Non-Toxic Biodegradable material which is a natural Hydrocolloid Filling.

Bentonite benefits the body because it has the ability to produce a charge that is electrical in nature when it comes in contact with liquid. When the clay touches any type of fluid (normally water), it takes on a different charge and is thought to bind to any present toxins within the fluid.

While in its natural state, bentonite clay has negatively charged molecules. Most toxins and heavy metals have positively charged molecules. This allows the two to bind together easily and stay united while the toxin removal process happens.

BENTONITE clay essentially “seeks” toxins in the body to bind with because naturally any substance that has a missing ion (which gives it its “charge”) looks for oppositely charged types of substances that will make it complete. Upon binding, the clay is then able to help remove toxins, chemicals, impurities and “heavy metals” from the gut, skin and mouth.

What is the Difference Between Moist and Dry Heat?

Moist and dry heat are the most common superficial heat therapy treatments. However, moist heat is more effective than dry heat in providing deeper penetration of the tissue at the same temperatures. Moist heat also has additional capacity to change the tissue temperature rapidly and obtain more vigorous response from temperature receptors. Patients often report greater relief of symptoms from moist heat. Moist heat can speed recovery by increasing blood flow to the targeted area. This increased circulation brings in fresh blood and takes away the wastes which may slow healing.

In addition, patients usually respond better to moist heat therapy rather than dry heat therapy. Moist heat can be used to heal many different conditions such as pain, stiffness, and deep muscle spasms. It has been reported that moist heat therapy provides relief to a greater number of symptoms.

How Does Our Hot Packs Work Therapeutically? Hydration Process

The use of heat obviously creates heat in the treated area, in the case of hot packs, within the body’s muscular tissues. This produces vasodilation that increases both the supply of oxygen and nutrients while aiding in the elimination of carbon dioxide and metabolic waste. This process increases the flow of oxygen and nutrients to injured or painful muscles, which helps the damaged tissue heal. In addition, heat stimulates sensory receptors found in the skin, that when applied to painful areas, like: the low back, there is a decrease in transmissions of pain signals to the brain and effectively reduces pain.

Heat can also be applied to inflamed areas which can promote sore or tightened muscles to relax. With improved blood flow and circulation from heat therapy, treated areas are able to more efficiently eliminate any lactic acid waste buildup, which can also create pain and/or stiffness. When treating chronic conditions like arthritis, moist heat packs are usually more effective in reducing muscle pain or sore joints than cold therapy.

Benefits of our Moist Heat Packs

  1. A hydrocollator pack is easy to apply. The patient does not need much handling.
  2. The packs are of various sizes which fit most clinical needs.
  3. Moist heat has a more sedative effect than dry heat.
  4. Low cost, minimal maintenance, long life.
  5. Maximal temperature is more uniform than in electrically-heated pads.
  6. The packs can be laid out ready for the patient to place on the affected part.

Care of Moist Heat Pack

  • Always return the Hydrocollator hot packs to the hot water of the heating unit after each treatment. There it is heated, kept clean, and ready for immediate use. The packs may be boiled; however, this hastens the deterioration of the pack.
  • The packs may also be cleaned by scrubbing the pack with soap and water. A simplified method of keeping the pack clean is to keep it immersed in water.
  • The packs under constant daily use, have a useful life of one year. When the pack begins to wear out, the filler oozes and leaks through the fabric of the cloth; sections of the pack appear to be loose and empty and will not retain heat properly. The pack should be replaced when it reaches this state.
  • If packs are to be stored for extended periods, they may be placed – while wet – in plastic bags and stored in a freezer.
